another dime in the juke box

last night i was sitting in front of my coffee table, looking down at all the pills i was going to take before bed. what are all these pills? why am i taking them?...

Flax Oil – I take it for the Omegas! 3/6/9

Wild Fish Oil – to help regulate cholesterol and for more Omega-3’s. I am going to eliminate either flax or fish, I am not sure which one is getting the axe yet.

Lecithin – Well, this one is a little more morbid. Apparently, when doing autopsies on people with MS, it has been found that there is significantly less lecithin in the brain and myelin sheath than normal persons. Additionally, taking this may be helping me avoid having outbreaks of psoriasis. Who knew?

Evening Primrose Oil – Studies have shown that taking Evening Primrose Oil, along with an Omega 3, early on in the progression of MS can help to keep attacks from being as severe and as frequent. For 10 cents a day, I am willing to take that gamble.

Multivitamin – Regular, run-of-the-mill vitamin. You know, just in case.

Vitamin D – It maintains our organs and there is a strong possibility that having enough Vitamin D can help us ward off cancer. Being that I don’t eat fishes (aside from the oil pills) and I avoid sunlight whenever possible, I have added this to the roster.

Milk Thistle – Cleanses my poor liver. All those interferons and random pain-killers have got to be doing *some* damage.

Greens Plus – Bought some of these on a whim. I haven’t found them to provide any extra sense of vitality or energy. I know a number of other people who have gotten great results from taking the mixed powder drink. I don’t think I will buy these again for myself. Expensive!

Melatonin – This is to help me sleep at normal times. After having been prescribed all kinds of wacky things to help me induce sleep, this over-the-counter, under-the-tongue health supplement has been the only thing that has actually helped me. Thanks, melatonin.
